“My day begins and ends with gratitude”

Criticize By Creating

“The energy we spend on criticism is being stolen from creativity.  It’s sideways energy.  We need fewer commentators and more innovators.  I try to live by Michelangelo’s maxim:  criticize by creating:  Quit compiling about what’s wrong, and do something that makes a difference.

  • Write a better book.
  • Start a better business.
  • Create a better product.
  • Run a better campaign.
  • Draft a better bill.
  • Produce a better movie.”

Mark Batterson – Chase the Lion

This spoke to me the other day.  It really really made me think about how I want to handle things that bother me going forward.  Not just the big things in the world but even the little things in my life.  Instead of complaining it’s time to just live in excellence.

Living in excellence isn’t about perfection.  It’s about putting forth the best effort we can.  It’s about not settling for just OK – but striving for more.

What’s one thing in your life you can stop complaining about and start making a difference with?  Make a pledge today to make a conscious change.  That one small change can create a ripple in the world that you can’t even see.  The impact around you may be small, but the impact upon the world could be huge.
